Acca sellowiana

This is our acca sellowiana - stuck down the side of the house, neglected and grass growing in the middle of it.

Fortunately it doesn't hold grudges and is providing us with a bountiful crop of feijoas.

Have you had one before?  The best way to eat them is just to cut them in half and scoop out the middle.

If they taste a little grainy, then they're not quite ripe.    They're at their best the day they fall to the ground and taste delicious.

At least I've got something to eat while I'm waiting for the veges to grow.

I have never even tried one! Are they really nice? I was tempted by one at the nursery yesterday, but didn't want to purchase it without having tasted one first. I'll have to go to the fruit store and give one a try. Your tree looks nice and compact - do they not grow very tall?

3 out of the 4 of us like them here. They call it a tree but ours is more like a big bush, tho I've seen some more tree like. It doesn't get any attention and in summer we sometimes forget to water it, so it's quite hardy. If you've got room, give it a try.
