The best bookclub discussions are the ones where we all don't agree on the book and last night was one of those.
There were a wide range of feelings about "The Shack". One of us felt it was condescending, self-righteous etc etc. Another of us was able to share it with her daughter who has recently begun her own spiritual journey, and another was ambivalent. I enjoyed it as much the second time around.
I think we all agreed that it wasn't a book you could just right out recommend to all of your friends.
Mandy made a very yummy white chocolate mud cake, very nicely "plated up" with raspberry coulis and cream.
The next book for us to read is....
I finally managed to get to the bookshop and buy our friend's new novel - "Prohibited Zone". Can't wait to start reading it but must do the bookclub one first. Well maybe I could read a little of both. Richard has said he'll read our friend's book too - could take a while because reading's not high on his list of things to do. Good thing I set the example for the boys.

No I didn't read it at school either Judith. Sometimes it is good to read the ones that you probably missed or didn't appreciate earlier. I'm in a bookclub too and just recently we've had a change in the way it is managed (through the library) and we get much better and more interesting books of our choice. Your bookclub sounds like fun!
How many people do you have in your bookclub? We've kept it to 6 so we each get to choose 2 books a year. It is good fun and it makes me read books I would never usually pick up.
I didn't read it at school, but I did sometime afterwards. I think I have read it about 3 or 4 times now, I am a big fan of the reread. Possibly because I don't pay enough attention in general.
I'll be interested to hear what you think.
At the moment I am reading Agatha Christie. They had a big sale on her books at Aldi.
What did you think of it Ali? I have favourite books that I reread as well.
My son read Catcher in the Rye last year for school. I didn't get around to reading it. My husband and I are slowly working our way through the classics which is lots of fun!
